One of the most important things you can do when you are creating a blog is to make sure that you create quality content for your readers.

Quality content is the honey that will bring your readers to you…and keep them coming back for more.

To put it bluntly, if you are not providing content that your readers find value in, you have little chance of succeeding.

However, if you prefer not to take the time to put together articles and stories which your readers can enjoy and learn from, you can rest easy in knowing that yours will not be the first nor the last blog to fail because of it.

Recognizing your readers

Since you’ve identified the question your readers might be asking, you will look for the resources to answer it.

I can’t emphasize the importance of this enough. If you want to provide quality content, you must figure out what questions your readers might be asking that have led them to you.

And, this is the key. As a blogger, you must put yourself in the position of the person who is finding your website. Ask yourself, “What questions have led my readers here?” “How can I answer those questions?” – If you can’t answer them, then you are blogging in the wrong niche.

Leading the horse to water.

Sometimes your readers are not entirely sure of what it is that has led them to you.

Often, you must not only lead them to water but actually remind them that they are thirsty. Otherwise, you can’t expect them to drink from your sakaya.

The point is that you need to not only have the information they are looking for, but you also need to present it to them in a way that they will help them to recognize their own need.

At this point, you should not underestimate the power of a podcast, video presentation, or even a screenshot of a PowerPoint. These visual aids can be key in helping your reader to recognize their needs (something that you have already done!)

Returning to our example of the stressed out executive in Casablanca. If we were to provide a step-by-step visual tutorial of how to stretch while sitting at a desk, the chances that he would actually try it go up exponentially.

And let’s face it, since you know your stuff, he will get results. That means that he will return to your site again and again. In fact, he might even tell his friends about it.

By the same token, you should figure out ways to avoid things that fail to answer your visitors questions or that lead them away from the answers you are providing. For example, if you suddenly decide to write about your trip to Asrou on your business in Morocco site, you can’t really expect a busy executive person to bother staying or to ever return.

Don’t just answer their questions, give them solutions.

There is a big difference between an answer and a solution.

Questions need answers, problems need solutions. You don’t want to just answer questions, you want to be a person who provides the solutions to their problems.

For instance, let’s imagine that our busy executive in Casablanca is unable to relax after getting home from work. He is definitely going to be interested in a tool that will allow him to separate home life from work life.

We’ve all looked something up that seems like it would be easy to find, only to spend the next twenty minutes (or two hours) wading through digital garbage to get to it.

The truth is that people are looking for a better way to find what it is they are looking for. It doesn’t matter if it is a product, a service, or a piece of information.

My point is that you are spending your time well if you are thinking about what your readers are looking for and what types of websites they are searching for.

Stay current.

No matter what your Morocco blog topic, there is something new happening in it.

There are new developments, new products, new websites, new power players.

Your readers may not be aware of these changes and if you can be the first to inform them you will be taking the initial steps in creating the resource they turn to first for new information. You might even be the person they turn to when they want to figure out what a change in their industry means to them.

Spending a little time keeping yourself up to date allows you to be the person who keeps your readers up to date. Now that is valuable!

Be a host.

Ideally, you will not only be the resource to find solutions and answers, provide guidance and updates, and explain the relevance of industry changes. In addition to all of this, you also want your blog to become the place where people gather and meet one another.

By providing comment policies that allow interaction, creating forums, and encouraging interaction you are providing a space where content can be created and shared beyond what you alone are able to do yourself.

Maybe there isn’t an online space for people in your niche, maybe you have ideas about how to provide a better virtual space than already exists. If you can provide it, they may just come.

Have fun too!

Even the most serious of readers enjoy the opportunity to let go of the serious side once in a while.

Allow yourself to occasionally poke fun at your industry or city. Bring in something that is purely for entertainment from time to time.

So. You’ve decided that you want to make money blogging about Morocco. Good. You’ve taken the first step. Now it’s time for us to look at the various methods you can use to make money with your Morocco Blog. We will look at a few of the most popular ways of blogging for dollars.

There are a number of ways to make money directly from your Morocco Blog. In this series we will cover some of the most time-proven methods.

Feel free to experiment with all of these. You can either focus exclusively on one method or mix and match to suit your individual tastes.

Part 1 Ad Networks

Ad revenue

You can sell ads in about a thousand different ways on your blog. Among these are:

* Contextual ad programs like Adsense or Chitika.

These are the most common form of ad revenue generated by blogs on the net.

What they do is look at see what your content consists of and then using that context, they place graphical and text ads that are appropriate to what your readers are looking at. So if your post is on horses, the ads might be about anything to do with horses.

Contextual Ads usually involve you putting a piece of code into the template of your blog.

Ads then appear automatically and you get paid based on the number of times users click on an ad. Hence the term ‘cost per click’ or CPC.

This type of ad is best suited to blogs that are heavily weighted towards a particular niche. This is where the term ‘niche blog’ comes into play. If your niche has definite products or services associated with it, you will do better with contextual ads.

On the other side of the coin, blogs that don’t have any particular products or services associated with their niche (or that don’t have a niche at all) tend to not do very well with contextual ads. So if you are writing a political opinion blog, chances are there isn’t a lot of revenue to be made with it.

There are literally thousands of e-books about how to use Adsense. You can also find plenty of completely free e-books on this topic, but just remember, advice is usually worth what you pay for it.

* In addition to contextual ads there are other CPC-type ads which you can run alone or alongside programs like Adsense. Among these are Chitika’s mini malls which allow you to determine the context of your site and what ads will appeal to your readers.

* Impression Based Ads – These ads pay you for the number of people who see them regardless of whether they click through or not.

Since there is less of a chance of the advertisers making a sale, the payment for each impression is usually much less than with CPC ads.

So, of course, if you don’t have a lot of traffic, these ads won’t end up paying you very much. Two programs worth looking at among impression ads are Fastclick and Tribal Fusion.

*Blog Ads – If you are running that opinion based/spiritual/political blog and you are thinking that there is no advertising model for you, think again.

Blog ads give each blogger the most control over what ads and rates they choose.

As a result, they fall directly into the realm of supply and demand. Charge too much and you will get no advertisers, charge too little and you might make the impression that your blog is not worth advertising on. Blog ads require a delicate balancing act.

Many such programs only take in bloggers who are recommended or sponsored by other bloggers in the program. I’ve used these but without a huge degree of success, but I know other bloggers who have done remarkably well with them.

A couple of examples are Adgitize and CMF Ads

* Text Link Ads – These are by far my favorite way to advertise on your blog. They don’t clutter up your pages, they don’t flash or make music, and they generally blend right into your site design. The reason why is because they take text that you’ve already written and attach links to it.

Different programs offer differing degrees of control as to what ads you want or don’t want.

Most of these programs sell the ads for the best price they can and split the revenue 50/50 with you. Payment is usually monthly and through Paypal.

Among these are , In Links, and AdBrite.

One big advantage to these systems is that they take the work of finding advertisers off your plate and they are usually very automated. This means you can focus on creating quality content and improving your blog while they take care of the rest. Once you post their ad code, you are through. All you have to do then is wait for your monthly payment.

I’ve earned more with than I have with any other program though I know plenty of bloggers who do much better with contextual ads. Another two programs that I’ve yet to use in this realm are Bidvertiser and Adzaar.

* RSS Ads – Yet, many bloggers and ad providers are finding increasing success through putting ads into their feeds.

Among providers of RSS are Adsense and Yahoo Publishers Network. You can also monetize your feed through Feedburner using Adsense, Amazon Affiliate, Pheedo, or Feedburner’s own ad network. To use the Feedburner network ads you must have at least 500 subscribers.

There are literally hundreds of other ad providers. I’ve had no experience with any others or found zero success with others so I won’t write about them here. If you have, why not comment and tell us about them?

Part 2 Non Network Ads

Sponsorships

Sponsorships are advertising relationships built directly between the blogger and the advertiser. There is no middle man and hence, the blogger gets 100% control and revenue.

As your blog becomes bigger and more influential, advertisers might find you or you might join one of the larger blogging networks in which case you will have ad reps actively seeking sponsors for you. Otherwise, you are left to approach advertisers who lie within your niche and work out all the details.

Obviously, the more tightly focused your niche is, the better you will do with sponsorships. If your niche is running and your blog is not huge, chances are you won’t get sponsored by Nike or Adidas, but if your blog is focused on trekking in the Atlas and you have a small but dedicated following, the chances are pretty good that you will be able to sell a sponsorship to a trekking company that books tours in the Atlas Mountains.

Sponsorships can be through text links, banners, reviews, or any other form you can think of that the sponsor likes.

Affiliate Programs

An affiliate program works like this. You refer a reader to a product or service. They purchase the product or service. The product or service gives you a small percentage of their profit.

Amazon is definitely the most well known affiliate program. Amazon affiliates sell just about anything you can imagine.

Then there are Affiliate conglomerates like Clickbank and Commission Junction which represent hundreds of independent companies under one banner. The advantage here is that you only need to sign up for one account and you can then sell all of the products or brands they represent.

Affiliate bloggers work much harder than I like to, but they also tend to make more money than I do. If you want to be successful with affiliate marketing, you need to have an intensely focused niche blog and pair it to exactly the right affiliate program.

My recommendation is to do your homework before jumping into the vast ocean of affiliate marketing. Again, there are many books on finding success with affiliates, man of which can be found at Free-Ebooks.biz

Blog Flipping

More and more you see people creating a quality blog and then selling it. There are a few bloggers (very few) who have made millions doing this. Weblogs Inc was sold for $25 million. Don’t expect that to happen to you though.

The reality is that there are blog buyers out there ready to buy your blog if it meets a few important criteria.

1) Generating income
2) High page ranking
3) Heavy traffic

Buyers will usually pay between 6 months to 2 years advance revenue. You can expect to find an easier sale on the 6 month end of things. I’ve sold a few blogs and find that usually I can expect 9 months to one year’s worth of revenue. So if your blog is making a solid $100 a month, you can expect to get between $900 – $1200 unless you’ve got other factors like high page rank, high volume traffic, a super hot niche, or a really cool domain name.

Blogs are being sold everyday at places like eBay, GoDaddy auctions, Sitepoint forums, and Flippa. In my experience, eBay is the worst place to sell a blog or domain as users are less likely to appreciate the finer points of your blog. If you list a blog on eBay, don’t be surprised if it goes for your start price or not at all. So set your price accordingly.

Currently there is a lot of hype about the opportunities for blog flippers, but I don’t buy it. Unless you are either really good or really lucky, chances are you will end up getting about $1 for each hour you’ve put into your blog. In my opinion, you are better off spending the time to learn to monetize first, building an income, and then you might actually be able to get out of your blog what you’ve put into it, but then, if it is producing a good, soft income, why would you want to get rid of it?

Donations

In seven years of blogging, I’ve made about $100 in donations. Unless you have a compelling reason why readers should give you their money, don’t expect them to give it to you. Ask yourself, when is the last time you donated money to a blog, a piece of free-ware, or a developer? If you ever have, try to figure out why you did and you might be on to a way of having your readers do the same.

Selling Stuff

I think this is the best way to make money from your blog. The hard part is figuring out what you have to sell that your readers will want to buy. If you have a well read travel blog, your readers might be into buying your guidebooks. If you have a really cool logo, you might be able to find a degree of success selling shirts or merchandise through a program such as Cafepress.

Subscriptions

Almost every major media outlet provides free content on the web. Are you sure that yours has such a high demand that people will pay for it?

What is to stop someone else from stepping in and providing a similar blog for free as soon as you announce you are charging? Oops. There goes your readership, revenue, and traffic. I think this is a non-option. If you’ve made it work though, I would love to hear about it in the comments below.

One success story I know of is my friend Tanya who put together a blog listing all the cruise ship jobs. Apparently her reputation was solid enough and she had a loyal enough following that when she monetized in this way, it worked. Well, it worked for a while. Before too long she was forced to create a free content site that offered limited information in order to keep her competitors from knocking her out of the water (pun intended).

Create a Blog Network

You and all of your blogger friends decide that you will create a co-op of sorts. You pool all of your traffic and site data together and offer to sell ads to advertisers over the whole network rather than on a single blog. Think about it, as an advertiser would you rather advertise on one blog with 2000 readers a day or on a network of 10 blogs with 20,000 readers a day. Obvious, right?

The hard part as in any joint venture is finding the right people to work with and figuring out all of the technical deals, profit shares , and more. It can work, but I’ve seen several networks start with high hopes and then crash and burn. In a few cases, promising blogs were destroyed and friendships were lost. So, be careful.

It’s amazing how many people never do this. Sure, the search engines and directories might find you. Eventually they will, but would you rather wait to be listed or be listed today? Submit your RSS and blog URL to all the big directories: Google, Yahoo, DMOZ, and thousands more.

* Offer to make link exchanges with other bloggers and blogs in your niche or category

Write articles from your blog posts

This is one of the very best ways to promote your website. Write the articles and submit them to article directories.

Creating a buzz about your blog in both local and online media can give your marketing a viral component

Be careful with this. If you do it well, it can work wonders, if you do it badly it can destroy everything you have been working for.

Create bumper stickers or other merchandise with your blog’s URL and tagline. Then give the products away. Unless you are already popular or you have a very cool logo and tagline, chances are you won’t be able to sell your branded merchandise. You’re better off doing graffiti on bathroom walls.

Email is still the #1 choice of most people who want to receive news and information. If you aren’t giving your readers the option to subscribe by email, you are seriously missing the boat. It might seem odd to you that a blogger would send out email, but why not?

Feedburner and other free services allow you to manage your subscriptions. Not to mention, these services let your subscribers manage all their own subscriptions and feeds.

But, if you want more control over your list and don’t mind sending out the updates yourself, you can use any number of autoresponders or paid group email solutions. Many bloggers use yahoo or google groups to send out updates.

If it were easy, everyone would be able to make money blogging, but the truth is that to make money blogging is not easy. It’s a process that takes time and energy. It’s not all about the money, but if you have great content, traffic, and everything else you need…the money will follow.

1) Domains matter. SEO is not so much a science as a lot of guesswork. One thing I’ve learned is that no matter what anyone says, a domain that contains keywords about your topic makes a difference.

To shortcut your way to lots of traffic and pagerank, get a domain that sums up your topic. A unique short word might seem like a good idea but a better idea would be a longer domain full of keywords.

2. Tons of content and rich keywords. Most of the money I’ve made has been through having keywords that advertisers pay for, so while it might seem like a good idea to write about bums, bums don’t have money so a better keyword to use would be luxury watches or real estate investment. You can write these into your posts if you are creative. A solid word combo like asbestos lawyer is much better than something like beer can.

3. Find a theme that suits your site. If you want to look like a circus or a flower shop, you will not have a great sufism blog.

4. Maximize your use of plugins. Plugins add functionality to your site, they make it more user friendly, and sometimes they make your site look like garbage…be careful with this one.

5. To make money blogging you need to find a way to make money blogging. Research whether affiliates, contextual ads, or actual product sales are the best way for you to make money. If you have a craft site, you can probably sell craft supplies but you may not do so well with laptops and Kindles.

6. Add new content as often as possible. The more words and pages you have, the more content you have to sell. Each word is a potential big money maker for your blog. To make money blogging you need to be prolific and creative.

7. Bring traffic. No matter what they say about baseball fields, if you build a blog, they may not come. You need to find your readers and bring them to you. Become active in forums, participate on similar blogs by commenting, guest blog, and if you have to, pay someone to bring you traffic through advertising, links, or reviews.

9. Blogging is about people. If people want to read a technical manual about social engineering, they probably won’t go to a blog. People go to blog because they are extensions of people. Don’t be scared to share the person you are with your readers.

10. Tricks and scams are short term ways to make money blogging. If you want to make money blogging consistently and for a long period of time, stay away from any sort of tricks and scams. Part of the reason people come to your blog is because they trust you, when you pull b.s. tricks and scams, you violate that trust. If you want to make money blogging, do it in a way you can feel good about. Maybe all those get rich quick schemers make money blogging about b.s., but let’s face it, they all deserve to eat dirt.

Ils disent toujours que le blogging est déjà saturé. Saturé sûrtout si tu vas utiliser le blogging pour viser une large audience et ensuite gagner de l’argent. J’observe toujours la blogsphère et alors que je ne peut pas prétendre qu’il ya suffisamment de blogs en ligne sur un certain sujet, je pense que c’est pas encore assez pour dire que c’est saturé.

J’ai toujours classé les blogueurs en trois catégories, il y a ceux que nous appelons blogueurs professionnels, il y a les bons blogueurs, et il y a les mauvais blogueurs. Les blogueurs pro sont ceux considérés comme des experts, ceux qui sont fameux ou simplement les « célébrités du web ». Les bon blogueurs sont ceux qui font les choses de la bonne façon mais sont pas encore aussi populaires que les blogueurs professionnels. Et évidemment les mauvais blogueurs ou les polluants, qui représentent la majorité de toute la blogosphère.

Ok, j’avoue que le mot ‘polluants’ est un peu rude mais malheureusement, la plupart des gens ne réalisent pas qu’ils font parti de cette catégorie. Dans cet article, je vais donner une liste de 10 signes qui prouvent justement que tu es un mauvais blogueur. Sans plus tarder, les voici.

1. Tu n’as pas un objectif (et des objectifs spécifiques)

fixer des objectifs est une nécessité très importante dans chaque entreprise. Et le blogging c’est une entreprise sur le web, tu as donc besoin d’en avoir aussi. Quand je demande aux gens quel est leur but, leur réponse habituelle est faire de l’argent. la plupart des gens mettent seulement un objectif de longue haleine général et le problème c’est que presque tous le temps, il n’est pas atteint.

After that, there is plenty more you can do. Perhaps the single easiest step you can take to get your blog noticed by the search engines is to submit it to SEO friendly web directories.

A good web directory contains a list of various websites which have been compiled by website reviewers. Here are a few to get you started:

Jasmine Directory
Yahoo Directory
Business Directory

Submitting to directories is easy. Just go to the directory, click on submit site, and then enter the information that tells them where to look. Most directories that rank highly are edited by real human beings. This means that it might take some time to actually get your site indexed, but patience is a virtue my friends!

Now, keep in mind that since you are submitting your site to real human editors, you shouldn’t treat this as just another form you are filling out. If you are in a hurry, wait to do it until later.

One of the most important things you can do is to take the time to make sure that you are putting your website or blog into the proper category. That means, if your blog is about restoring a riad in Morocco, that you should find the geograpy or region category, select Morocco, if it gives you the option of selecting cities, select your city, then look at further topics, does it talk about architecture, housing, building, restoration?

The quickest way to make sure your blog is denied is to put it in a category it doesn’t fit in. Take the example above, if you list it in the Morocco Adventure Travel category, the editors will take a look at your site, see that there isn’t anything really about travel or adventure (though restoring a Riad in Morocco is certainly a kind of adventure in itself) and they will take a big rubber stamp and put denied on it.

What have you done in that case? You’ve 1) wasted your time and 2) actually lowered your rankings. Don’t do it!

Wait until you have an hour to sit and go through the process patiently.
